    John Basting '10

    Past President

    John Basting is the Vice President of Acquisitions for Life House, a technology-enabled hotel brand and operating company. John held various roles focused on hotel real estate prior to Life House, including Senior Director of Cushman and Wakefield's Hospitality Capital Markets team, Vice President of Asset Management at KH Advisers / Kingdom Hotel Investments, and Vice President - Consulting at Hospitality Real Estate Counselors. John graduated from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration with a minor in Real Estate and concentration in Finance and Accounting.

    Hanif Jivraj

    Immediate Past President

    Hanif Jivraj's most recent position was the Director of Revenue with Aimbridge Hospitality. In the past he has held revenue positions at Gramercy Park Hotel, Yotel, Jumeirah Essex House, the London NYC and the Plaza Hotel. He has also worked at American Express and Orbitz. Hanif got his start in hotels from Hilton Hotels, having been at the Waldorf=Astoria, The Hilton at Short Hills and the New York Hilton.     Anika Malhotra Singhal MMH '12

    President

    Anika graduated from Cornell University’s Master of Management in Asia program in 2012, where she spent time in Ithaca, New York and Singapore studying Operations and Revenue Management. At Cornell, Anika co-authored The DC Factory, winner of Cornell University’s 2012 Hospitality Business Plan Competition. Anika was most recently a Revenue Manager for Denihan Hospitality Group as well as Highgate Hotels. In the past she has held management positions in Operations at hotels in New York, India, and Hong Kong. Prior to this year as Events Co-Chair, Anika has served on the board as Secretary of Philanthropy Chair.

    Michael Adelstein '16

    Treasurer

    Michael Adelstein graduated from the School of Hotel Administration in 2016. He is currently an Asset Management Associate at Capstone Realty Group, a New Jersey based investment and development real estate group. At Capstone, Michael’s responsibilities include overseeing the financial reporting & forecasting, and project management for the company’s portfolio of roughly 3 million square feet of class A and B commercial office and retail properties. Prior to working at Capstone, Michael has worked for various NYC-based hotel & restaurant groups including: Amali restaurants, China Grill Management, Two Roads Hospitality, EMM Group, and Sixty Hotels.

    Juliana Hughes '17

    Social Media

    Juliana graduated from the School of Hotel Administration in 2017, where she was extremely involved throughout her college experience with Hotel Ezra Cornell, serving on the Board of Directors for HEC 92 as the Sales Director. Upon graduating, Juliana worked at Moet Hennessy for nearly three years, first working with the Private Client Team and then moving on to work at Moet Hennessy's e-retail "startup", Clos19, as the Associate Manager of Customer Acquisition. Aside from the Hotel School, Juliana loves training for marathons, walking in Central Park with her miniature dachshund, reading a good book and enjoying a great bottle of wine.

    Adam Tang '18

    Events - Co-head of CHS Annual Reception

    Adam Tang is a Consultant at EY within Technology Advisory working on enterprise-wide technology plans, strategies, and implementations. Prior to EY, Adam worked at Royal Caribbean within Product Development where he worked on ship refurbishments and new builds from venue ideation through development. Adam graduated from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration with a minor in Real Estate and concentration in Finance & Accounting.

    Ji Young Lee '18

    Events - Co-head of CHS Annual Reception

    Ji Young Lee graduated from the School of Hotel Administration in 2018. She is currently working at Ithaca Wine Ventures consulting for the Moet Hennessy Private Client Team as a Retailer Relationship Manager. Prior to this experience, she was a Project Coordinator at Poppin, an office supply and furniture company designed to be the effortless one-stop solution for startups as well as Fortune 500 companies. As a student at Cornell, Ji Young was involved in the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and Air & Sea Hospitality.

    Erik Warner '98

    Advisory Board Chair

    Erik Warner is a Principal with Eagle Point Hotel Partners ("EPHP"), a venture between CarVal Investors (formerly known as Cargill Value Investment) and Ramsfield Real Estate. The company is an opportunistic hotel real estate investor, lender and asset manager. Mr. Warner graduated from the School of Hotel Administration in 1998. When he is not working he enjoys traveling with his family, sailing, photography, lion taming, food and wine.

    Cherie Bagwill '84

    80's Committee Chair

    Cherie is currently Vice President of Schrier Wirth Executive Search. She has been with the firm for more than 10 years and has successfully placed candidates in a wide range of hospitality related positions. She is a graduate of the Masters of Professional Studies Program at Cornell University's School of Administration and she received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and International Studies from Rollins College.
